Sommieria is a monotypic genus of flowering plant in the palm family endemic to New Guinea (Papua New Guinea and West Papua in Indonesia) where they grow in rain forest understory. The sole species is Sommieria leucophylla. They resemble the Asterogyne palms but are most closely related to those members of Heterospathe with short stems and sparsely branched inlforescences. The name honors Stephen Sommier, European botanist
It is found in Western New Guinea and Papua New Guinea where it is restricted to dense rain forest understory. There they grow in constant shade or filtered light with high humidity and regular rainfall
نخل اسلیک (سامیریا لئوکوفیلا) گونه ای نخل بومی پاپائو گینه نو است
این گونه از نخل بسیار کمیاب و گران قیمت هست
روی برگها سبز رنگ و پشت برگها نقره ای رنگ است
ساختار بذرها بسیار منحصر به فرد و زیبا است
نخلی قد کوتاه و مینیاتوری است و رشد قدی زیادی ندارد
نیاز به نور کم دارد و به آفتاب مستقیم نیاز ندارد چون کف جنگل های بارانی رشد میکند عملا به نور کم عادت دارد
یکی از نخل های مناسب رشد در گلدان و داخل اتاق و آپارتمان است
