Dracaena trifasciata is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae, native to tropical West Africa from Nigeria east to the Congo. It is most commonly known as the snake plant, Saint George’s sword, mother-in-law’s tongue. Until 2017, it was known under the synonym Sansevieria trifasciata
Like some other members of its genus, D. trifasciata yields bowstring hemp, a strong plant fiber once used to make bowstrings
It is now used predominantly as an ornamental plant, outdoors in warmer climates, and indoors as a houseplant in cooler climates. It is popular as a houseplant because it is tolerant of low light levels and irregular watering; during winter, it needs only one watering every couple of months. It will rot easily if overwatered. It is commonly recommended to beginners interested in cultivating houseplants for its easy care
The NASA Clean Air Study found D. trifasciata has the potential to filter indoor air, removing 4 of the 5 main toxins involved in the effects of sick building syndrome. However, its rate of filtration is too slow for practical indoor use
D. trifasciata is widely used as an ornamental, in the tropics outdoors in pots and garden beds and in temperate areas as an indoor plant
In South Africa, it is also used to treat ear infections
گیاه زبان مادر شوهر یا دراسنا تریفاسکیانا گونه ای آفریقایی از خانواده مارچوبگان بومی نیجریه و کونگو است.
این گیاه تا سال 2017 با نام سانسوریا در دنیا شناخته میشد که بعد از آن با مطالعه دقیق ژنتیکی به گروه دراسنا منتقل شد.
البته در ایران احتمالا تا سال 2117 با نام سانسوریا شناخته خواهد شد و آپدیت نام در کار نیست 🙂
زبان مادرشوهر یا سانسِوِریا (نام علمی: Dracaena trifasciata) از گیاهان گل‌دار آپارتمانی و همیشه سبز است که در آفریقا می‌روید. ارتفاع این گیاه تا ۱۴۰ سانتیمتر می‌رسد.
برگهای گیاه از پیرامون ریشه خارج شده و ضخیم و چوبی (فیبری)، شمشیری شکل، کشیده یا استوانه‌ای، با اختلاف ارتفاع می‌باشند. رنگ آنها سبز روشن است و در کناره نوار سفید یا سبز تیره یا کم رنگتر وجود دارد. سانسوریا رشد نسبتاً کندی دارند. گل‌های آن خیلی کوچک بوده و در سنبله به وجود می‌آیند. رنگ آنها سفید متمایل به سبز و کاملاً معطر است. ظهور گل‌ها در آب و هوای ملائم و منحصراً در فصول مناسب است. این گل‌ها به بی آبی بسیار مقاوم هستند و در زمستان تا حرارت۷–۱۰ درجه سانتی گراد را به خوبی تحمل می‌کند.
گلدهی آن در شرایط مطلوب نور و خاک مقوی روی میدهد که بعد از آن میوه های نارنجی حاوی بذر ظاهر میشوند
