Nepeta cataria, commonly known as catnip, catswort, and catmint, is a species of the genus Nepeta in the family Lamiaceae, native to southern and eastern Europe, the Middle East, central Asia. It is widely naturalized in northern Europe, New Zealand, and North America. The names catnip and catmint are derived from the intense attraction of cats have towards them. The plant terpenoid nepetalactone is the main chemical constituent of the essential oil of Nepeta cataria. Nepetalactone can be extracted from catnip by steam distillation
نعنا گربه ای یا کت نیپ یا کت مینت Catnip , Cat Mint با نام علمی Nepeta cataria گیاهی معطر و خوشبو از خانواده نعنا است. خواص دارویی زیادی دارد و به عنوان گیاه دارویی معطر شناخته میشود.
دلیل نامگذاری آن علاقه گربه ها به این گیاه است.
عطر آن ترکیبی از بوی قارچ خوراکی + بوی نعنا است و هم خواص دارویی برای انسان دارد،هم گربه ها عاشق این گیاه هستند.
